Splatter!!!

Splatter nails where just as much fun to do as they look! and yes they made a MESS!

I've wanted to do these for a while and finally had some time to do my nails and time to clean up a mess! lol

This is what I used; a base coat of Seche Vite Rebuild(I can't say enough good things about this stuff!), China Glaze - Aquadelic, Nina Ultra Pro - Pink Flamingo, Sinful Colors - Snow me White, and of course Seche Vite Top Coat.

Ok so first I started out with a base coat of Aquadelic. Then I took an old paint brush and painted the tip of it with Pink Flamingo, and then I just took my thumb and sprayed the paint on my nails by running my thumb across the brush. I did this over a paper plate just so I didn't get paint every where. I did one nail at a time and did the pink and then followed with the white, taking the dried nail polish off of the tooth brush with polish remover when it got to be too much. Now after I finished with my little splatters I took the paint and a tooth pick and made larger spots on my nails just to give my nails a little different look.

Ok now there was a lot of clean up and I probably would have taped off my nails like I do when I do a water marble but after a few Q-tips and my angled brush they came out looking great!

These Nails where awesome and I wish they would have lasted longer then they did! I will definitely be doing these again with different colors because they where so cool and I got so  many compliments on them!

As always thank you so much for reading! I hope I added a little inspiration to your day! Oh and don't forget to "like" our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/PrettyInPolish0

Neon polka dots

For a while now, I've wanted to try out neon nail polish. On Mother's Day, my husband, daughter and I went to the local Fruhlingsfest- Spring Festival. There was a cosmetic booth there selling makeup and nail polish (why at a festival? go figure...) so my husband bought me a few new polishes- three of which were neon! Yay!

I also have new dotting tools I wanted to try out...
So I used my new dotting tools with my new neon polishes and came up with this really, really cool mani. I love it way more than I was expecting.
It's pretty awesome, right?!
 And a close up...
I just love the way the color pops! I think if I were to do this again, I'd do fewer dots, but I still think this looks so great.
If I had a blacklight, this mani would be under it ASAP!

The black base is three coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black. I normally only use two coats, but I, forever being the optimist- painted the first two coats while my child was napping and my husband was at work. Duhhh... of course she woke up and you can only imagine what holding a very wiggly baby does to nails that aren't quite entirely dry... but a third coat fixed it no problem.

The neon colors are Cosmetica Fanatica. I also have neon green, which I did not use for this design. These polishes specify that they are for acrylic nails, but I used them on my natural nails.
My fabulous new dotting tools:

Black base: Sinful Colors Black on Black
Pink: Cosmetica Fanatica neon pink
Yellow: Cosmetica Fanatica neon yellow
Top coat: Revlon Base & Top Coat 965

One Direction-inspired

Yesterday, I went over to a friend's house and did her daughters' nails.

The first manicure I gave was band-inspired. Like any other 14-year-old girl, C is obsessed with a boy band. (No, really. She totally knows more about this band than I knew about N'Sync, and that's saying something.) I feel old and out of the loop saying this, but before yesterday, I had never heard of One Direction. (embarrassed!)
While I did her nails, C's little sister put on YouTube videos of One Direction on SNL and on the Today show. It was certainly inspirational. :)
The band consists of 5 guys- four British guys and one Irish guy. So naturally, we did four British flags and one Irish flag.

Once we were done with this hand, we realized we did the Irish flag sideways, so we changed it up to be correct on the other hand. Whoops!

Then, I did C's little sister's nails. M and I looked through photos on Pinterest and she settled on a mani that I had pinned a while back- all white nails with some black dots forming a pretty tribal-type design. We played with the idea a little and came up with this:
It was fairly easy, quick and it turned out really cute! I think I'd like to do something similar to this on my own nails soon. I used a ballpoint pen dipped in a drop of black polish to do the dots.

One Direction nails:
Blue: Sally Hansen's X-Treme Wear Blue Me Away
White: Sally Hansen's French white tip
Red: Maybelline Ultimate Wear Red Hot Rouge
Green: Catrice Cosmetics King of Greens
Orange: Sally Hansen's X-Treme Wear Sun Kissed

Pink and Polka Dots nails:

Black: Sinful Colors Black on Black
